There is a joy in praying. Not only do we have the grace to talk to the Father of our
Redeemer who made the heavens and the earth, we also have the joy of being involved in
your work on earth. We may pray for those who need You and be with them in their need.

False teachers have been there all the time, and will be there till the return of Christ. In
most cases these false teachers are, as 2Pet 2:1 puts it, “among the people”. It was like this
from the earliest days. Heresy is something the church of the Lord Jesus Christ will always
have to contend with. At no stage in the history of the church, even the future of the
church, will we not have false teachers. As a matter of fact, these false teachers might

Hesitant obedience 20/09/09
The opening book of the Bible contains two chapters to tell and warn of God’s hatred of sin, his judgement of it and the catastrophic consequences of living in the world and loving it. The first is the event of the Flood. Noah was a righteous man who loved God and did what God commanded him. With extreme patience he built the ark with every hammer blow being a sermon to those around him to repent. They did, and God destroyed the world in that massive flood. Why? Joshua made it clear to them that there should be a distance between them and the ark. The ark was a symbol of God’s presence with them. The ark would go ahead of them, as a symbol of God going ahead of them, showing them the way. Another great problem with many Christians today is the pietistic idea that the promised land, as we read about it in the Old Testament, is the promised land of heaven. So they don’t want to be a member of the army of Jesus Christ here on earth. To them, to be saved, is to be plucked out of this world with all its responsibilities, and to wait until the day they may enter the Promised Land of heaven. The problem is just that we think eternity will never catch up with us; we might even think
that God is not serious about the way we live and will somehow come to our aid just before
we die and have to give account before his judgement throne. There is another problem, so
